Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' announced that his recent visit to India has significantly contributed to promoting bilateral goodwill and relations. In his address to the House of Representatives (HoR) session today, PM Dahal emphasized that the visit on June 9-10 helped to further consolidate the friendly and cooperative relations between the two nations based on equality and mutual benefits.

During his visit, PM Dahal attended the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who assumed office for the third consecutive term. The event was attended by various heads of state and government leaders. PM Dahal informed the House that he held a bilateral meeting with PM Modi after the ceremony, discussing ways to strengthen Nepal-India ties, implement bilateral agreements, regularize meetings of bilateral mechanisms, and cooperate on projects like the Pancheshwor Multi-Purpose Project and the Arun Hydro Power Project.

On June 10, PM Dahal paid a courtesy call to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, where they discussed potential ways to elevate the centuries-old close relations between the two countries. He also met with Indian Minister Dr. S Jaishankar and representatives of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, where they talked about expanding Nepal-India trade and increasing Indian investment in Nepal's priority sectors.

In New Delhi, PM Dahal attended a reception hosted by the Nepali Embassy and engaged with various political leaders, friends of Nepal, and representatives of Nepali organizations.

PM Dahal briefed the HoR about his India visit while responding to queries raised by lawmakers during the emergency, zero, and special hours of the meeting. He reminded the House that the visit was not based on any predetermined agenda. Today's HoR meeting also included discussions on the Appropriation Bill, 2081, with responses from eight different ministers to queries raised during the session.
